Sunrise Rotary is a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club! March 19th Celebration at 7:00am!
On March 1, 2024, our Sunrise Rotary Club reached a charitable milestone that distinguishes us above most – a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club. It’s an even greater distinction at the district level as there are only two total clubs in D5440 to reach the mark.
This means all 46 members of the Club have been credited with a donation of $1,000 or more to become a Paul Harris Fellow, a society of the Rotary Foundation, which serves as the charitable arm of Rotary International. With roughly 46,000 clubs across the Rotary world, that makes around 10% of all clubs to have achieved the recognition.
We will celebrate this 1 time event on March 19th. Please plan to attend Rotary Club on March 19th at 7am when we will award 33 members as Paul Harris Fellows!
$5,000 Grant Presentation to the Veterans Community Project in Longmont - Field Trip on Monday, March 18th
We will present the Veterans Community Project (VCP) in Longmont at Noon with the $5000 grant money that Sunrise Rotary was awarded from Dignity Memorial. Everyone is welcome to accompany Bill Howell, Jean Rissmiller and Stacey Cole-Winsor to the Veterans Community for a brief "big check" presentation, a tour of the tiny village and then lunch afterwards.
On April 23rd, the VCP will present on the VCP and then let us know which “all Club” Service Project we can do onsite. Please let Bill Howell know if you would like to be part of the field trip on March 18th in Longmont. We will meet at the Legion at 10:45am and drive to the VCP Village at 3095 Mountain Brook Drive, Longmont, CO 80503.
Sunny Schmitt announced a "Save the Date" for an upcoming joint social with Noon Rotary on Thursday, May 30th at High Peak Camp. The Salvation Army has this camp for a retreat of inner city kids to have an experience at a camp. They have a large eating area and the food is served cafeteria style. There will be a tour includes seeing the dorms, etc. Stay tuned for more info to come.
Cindy Taylor announced that on Saturday, March 16 at the Legion there will be St Patty's Day dinner and music event. Check it out at https://esteslegion.org.
Berta Raworth has use of a Condo for the weekend (that she won in last year's Duck Race drawing) during Frozen Dead Guys weekend March 16-17. It is above Kind Coffee. She is offering for any Rotarian who need a place to stop in during the weekend festivities. The address is 420 E. Elkhorn, The door to the condo is just to the right of Wildlife Photo Art.

D5440 Conference in Steamboat Springs is May 16-19 – Sunrise members will enter something in the Silent Auction. All proceeds will go to Crutches 4 Africa (crutches4africa.org). Submission form due by Friday, April 19th.
Matching grant applications are available a couple more weeks through March 31! Recognizing that Sunrise Rotarians support various local nonprofits, the Matching Grants Program doubles a member’s donation up to $200. If a club member gives $200, EVSR will match that $200 and the nonprofit will receive $400. Eligible local nonprofits must be registered with the Estes Park Nonprofit Resource Center (EPNRC). Certain international nonprofits will be allowed: Rotary Charities, YMCA, and Salvation Army.

Estes Park’s Historian Laureate, James Pickering gave a presentation about his latest book, He Came and Stayed: Pieter Hondius, the Estes Park Years. The book is available at the Estes Park Museum and MacDonald's Bookstore.
