Title: D5440 Foundation/Grant Overview
Robin talked about how funds you donate are used. She showed the power of matching when you contribute to
the Rotary Foundation:
- District Designated Funds (DDF)
- World Fund
- Employee Matching
- Polio Plus
She presented our District 5400 DDF (2023-24)
• District Grant Funds for 2023-2024 = $102,712 (this is the maximum we are allowed to reserve for district grants)
– We have spent $89,364 between 20 clubs for 1st round district grants
– We have 10 requests for $9,666 for Governors grants, the most we have had in years.
– We have very little left for Round 2 (Dec.) District Grants
• This leaves $199,653 for Global Grants (2023-2024)
– $109,334 is tagged/reserved for global grants that are in process
– $90,319 is currently unallocated for this fiscal year and is available for matching DDF for any global grant in the district.
There are three tiers of Rotary Club eligibility for District Grants as follows:
• Tier 1 – Clubs who contribute $200 or more per capita to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund
will be eligible for $6,000. (THIS IS OUR CLUB!)
• Tier 2 – Clubs who contribute between $100 and $199 per capita to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund will be eligible for $5,000.
• Tier 3 – Clubs who contribute between $50 and $99 per capita to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund will be eligible for $3,500.
• Tier 4 - Clubs who contribute less than $50 per capita to The Rotary Foundation Annual Fund will not be eligible for district grants or governor’s grants.
Global Grants - Large, long-term projects
• Sustainable, measurable outcomes
• Aligned with Rotary’s areas of focus
• International partnership
• World Fund match
• Supports projects and vocational training teams
• We have significant matching DDF still available for ‘23-24
NOTE: Each year, there is also $16,667 DDF available for a $30K Global Grant Scholarship. Eligible clubs can submit applicants to the Grants Committee per the
Rotary Global Grant Scholarship Process. There will be 1 grant per year and the candidate will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis. NO CLUB FUNDS
REQUIRED.
Robin outlined the requirements for our upcoming Ecuador Clean Water Global Grant:
Global grants support large international activities
with sustainable, measurable outcomes in Rotary’s areas of focus. The minimum budget for a global grant project is $30,000. Our Ecuador project is $30k+.
• Host country & International Clubs are required.
– Most projects are International
• Active Rotarian involvement
– Considerable effort for both host/int’l clubs, a close
relationship is needed between clubs and community
along with shared goals and good communication
• Requires Community Assessment
• Approval by District is required to receive District
Funding
• Approval by The Rotary Foundation is required for
Rotary Foundation Funding
We will submit our Ecuador Global Grant in January.
