Steve Misch - “….I was so moved by receiving the card from the club membership with their comments… Those small gestures mean so much… This journey in my life has been an incredible challenge to me both physically and mentally… My gratitude is that it did not take my life and that I still have time to enjoy family, friends, and other pleasure journeys. Most importantly, I want our membership to realize how much I appreciate each one of them individually along with the fact that I miss you all so much… When I’m permitted to get out of the house, and off of this oxygen, the club will be the first thing I visit… God bless and thank you so much, STEVE”

Lazy B Chuck Wagon dinner and show - September 15th, 5:00pm - 7:30pm
This is a joint Rotary Social with the Noon Rotary.There are 35 from our club joining about the same number from the Noon Rotary.
Raffle Tickets - Mark sent out an email saying we have 222 more raffle tickets to sell in just 3 weeks. He presented us with promo cards that we that we can use to promote Raffle ticket sales online. It includes the QR code as well as the website.
Teresa Mueller and John Tessler gave a brief summary of the Arts & Crafts Show. We had tremendous feedback from vendors on the organization of the event, hospitality provided to the vendors and quality of the products in the show. An early look at total sales, tallied from vendors' sales tax paid, indicates that it was on par with last year, despite losing an afternoon of sales on Sunday due to the multi rain events. More details on net revenue will be coming in a couple weeks.
Gordon announced that one of our Arts & Crafts vendors, Kristen Haug from South Dakota, was so impressed with our Sunrise Rotary members and what we do as a club that she joined a club in Pierre, South Dakota.
Scott Applegate announced that the Bank of Estes Park's "GoldenAntler" award is open for nominations. This award will recognize a person or organization that has made a tremendous, meaningful, and positive impact on our community. Then, that person will be able to select a local non-profit to receive a $5,000 grant from Bank of Estes Park. Forms are available at the Bank.
Peaches - Scott Applegate reported that the box of peaches he purchased seemed to "evaporate".....he waited 2 days for them to ripen and by the time he got to them, only 5 were left in the box!

The Legion Wall of Honor Dedication at the end of August went well. John Minier suggested that we could install an 8x8 plaque to commemorate Scott Webermeier. It was requested that as a symbolic gesture, funds should be collected to honor him, i.e.: $1 from 200 people.
John Minier is going to Ecuador soon and will meet with Rotary Clubs in the Quito, Ecuador area in an effort to partner with one of them on installing one of the SunSpring water purification systems (displayed at Arts & Crafts) deep in the Rainforest of the Achuar village of Ecuador. We will also partner with the H2OpenDoors CEO Jon Kaufman, whom we talked with at the Labor Day Arts & Crafts Show. Jon is very eager to talk with us about the next steps.
District 5440 Fall Assembly - Sat, Oct 7th
This is a one day district event. Let's get as many of us together and drive up together for the day.
October Social – Mark your calendars for a Wine and Cheese social on October 21st at Snowy Peak’s Winery from 6pm-8pm.

Speaker: Peter Teahen, Cedar Rapids Rotary
Peter presented about his flight around the world to raise money to wipe out polio. There are only 702 pilots who have made the trip around the world in a single engine airplane. Peter and his co-pilot are Rotarians from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They participated in vaccinating children in Karachi, Pakistan. Their flight project raised over $2M for polio.
