Welcome back Jim Daugherty from a 27 day trip to Sicily and southern Italy. He and his wife visited the town where Lucy, our exchange student, is from.
Sunny Schmidt has Palisade Peach Jam ($10) for sale to benefit her PEO chapter. Profits got to school scholarships.
Bruce Johnston's daughter, Rebecca, returned home safely from a mission trip to Malawi, Africa.
Cory Workman's younger daughter qualified for Regionals and State in Cross Country.
Eric Blackhurst announced that the Lazy B sent us a check for $240 to donate towards a Non-Profit of our choice.
Plant-a-Book, Grow-a-Child raises $5,200
Congratulations to Scott Applegate who secured $5,200 in Sponsorships for this important project!
Plant a Book, Grow a Child, a program started by Scott Applegate, shares a partnership with the Estes Park Elementary School library. Scott said that each classroom teacher will have $200 to use at their discretion so that EVERY student who visits the students-only book fair can leave with at least one book.
Golden Antler Award - who do you know that has made a tremendous impact for good in our community? They may be a candidate for the Golden Antler Award! This award will recognize a person or organization that has made a tremendous, meaningful and positive impact on our community. The winner will be able to select a local non-profit to receive a $5,000 grant from Bank of Estes Park! But hurry!Nominations will be accepted through September 30th.

Katie Speer Philanthropist of the Year
This award is intended to recognize an individual or group who has made a significant impact on the Estes Valley community in the previous year through philanthropic activities. Employees of institutions that do philanthropic work are not eligible for this award for work performed in the course of their regular job duties.
Business Philanthropist of the Year
The Business Philanthropist of the Year award is intended to recognize a business that has had a significant impact on the Estes Valley community in the previous year through philanthropic activities.
Enduring Service Award
The Enduring Service award is intended to recognize an individual or group who has made an extraordinary long-term impact on the Estes Valley community through philanthropic activities. Employees of institutions that do philanthropic work are not eligible for this award for work performed in the course of their regular job duties.
Youth Philanthropist of the Year
The Youth Philanthropist of the Year award is intended to recognize an individual or group (18 years old or younger) who has made a significant impact on the Estes Valley community in the previous year through philanthropic activities.
Shavlik Nonprofit of the Year
The Shavlik Nonprofit of the Year award is intended to recognize a nonprofit organization that is in service to the Estes Valley that has demonstrated exceptional dedication to its mission and those whom they serve.
District Governor Nominee (2025/2026), Karen Morgan (Fort Collins Foothills Club) visited our club and spoke to us about how the District Governor has a team that splits up the 5440 club visits (53 clubs). That team is made up of

Karen said that we are her 12th visit so far this year. Karen met with the Sunrise Rotary Board the night before to learn more about our club and projects that we are working on.
Karen gave a brief update on Rotary International's Action Plan, a strategic road map that will help us better connect with each other, grow as an organization, and more effectively share our stories of how we are making a difference in communities. The plan has 4 priorities

Reach
Engagement
Adapt
We discussed each of the priorities as they pertain to our club and our plans.
At the end of the session, Karen praised our club on each of these priorities and said that we are the epitome of Rotary's International Vision:
"Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves."
