Estes Park Police Department receives $1000 for Blue Santa Project
Estes Valley Sunrise Rotary presented the EPPD with a $1000 check on October 28th for this years Blue Santa project. Sponsored by the Estes Park Police Department’s Auxiliary Unit, Blue Santa purchases and delivers non-perishable food and hygiene products to disabled, homebound, and elderly community members needing holiday cheer in December.
On November 11th, a four-member team from the Estes Valley Sunrise Rotary Club—Jean Rissmiller, John Minier, Paul and Teresa Mueller—will join Jack Barker, President, Founder, Inventor, Innovative Water Technologies and Enoch Ortiz of the Rotary Club of Puyo Ecuador in District 4400 to travel deep into the Ecuadorian Rainforest. Together, they will install a WallSpring Solar Water Purification System, capable of providing up to 13,680 gallons of clean drinking water per day to the Achuar community. The team will also install a Bottle Buddy station, designed to clean, sanitize, and rinse reusable bottles for safe use with the purified water.
In addition to bringing clean water, the team will conduct eye clinics in two to three villages, distributing reading glasses and sunglasses to those in need.
We are deeply grateful to the Sunrise Rotary Board for approving an additional $3,600 to cover unforeseen customs tariffs, ensuring this vital project moves forward without delay.
A heartfelt thank-you as well to everyone who has donated unused reading glasses and reusable water bottles—your generosity will directly improve lives in the heart of the Amazon rainforest!
Sleigh the games:
Volunteer Opportunity @ $20/hr for Sunrise Rotary Club
Sleigh The Games is a new holiday event sponsored by The Town of Estes Park.
This new holiday adventure event takes place December 12-14 at the Event Center and around town. Sleigh The Games combines over a dozen fun, active, winter-themed games & competitions with great entertainment, holiday charm, and adventures for all ages.
Event organizer, Josh Kravetz, is asking non-profits and clubs like ours to please volunteer at the event.
There are volunteer opportunities for set up Friday 12/12 and on the main event days on Saturday 12/13 and Sunday 12/14. These roles would include: participant check in, games referee, green team, parking direction, event marshals, and a variety of other roles.
They pay $20/volunteer hour and shifts are usually 4 hours. Some roles can accommodate people that need to sit or be stationary. Others require heavy lifting and athleticism. They expect to have around 100 volunteer shifts.
If you are interested in volunteering, please let Gordon know. Some of us may want to work multiple shifts over the 3 days. Great way to fundraise for EVSR.
