Our annual Christmas Party at the Historic Crag's Lodge is tomorrow, December 14th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. We have a wait list started if you still want to attend. (contact Sunny Schmidt).There typically are a few cancellations at the last minute.
Members are encouraged to give a $20 per person donation before or at the door. We will accept credit cards, cash or check.
If you would like to participate in a Secret Santa drawing, bring a gift ($20 limit please).
Salvation Army Bell Ringing – please volunteer during this week, Dec 14-17 and next week, Dec 21-24 (Thurs-Sun) between 9 am to 5 pm. That’s only 2 weeks.
Bell Ringers have 2 hour slots. Bell Captains have 8-hour shifts including set up in the morning and dropping off funds at Crossroads at the end of each day.
December 19th is the last day we are collecting Toys for Tots. There is a box at the Legion for dropping off the unwrapped toys. There will be a pick up on Dec 19 by the Marine Corp League who will oversee the distribution of the toys.
The Estes Park Pet Association is continually in need of wet and dry food for dogs and cats, old towels and pet toys and you have certainly donated generously! More is needed if you haven't yet been able to donate. Terri Martin and Bill Howell will see to it that the Pet Association will receive your donations by Dec 19th.

Good News:
Gordon Slack was present at today's meeting after back surgery a couple weeks ago. He thanked those of us who contributed to a "meal" over the last couple of weeks.
The Town approved a Town petition to adhere to the existing noise ordinance. Bill Brown has the petition to sign if you would like to help ensure that the construction going on in town respects this ordinance.
Announcements
David White was absent today as he was not feeling well. He was ambulanced to the hospital early in the morning as he was dizzy and sick to his stomach. He was diagnosed with vertigo and sent home. He is feeling better now.
Mike McKinney will be having surgery on his brain on December 20th to stop his hand tremors". Jean called Mike who explained that it's surgery that is basically like a pacemaker where the brain gets stimulation without damaging surrounding normal tissue. He will be awake during the surgery, stay overnight in the hospital and then go home and resume normal activity. It's a game changer!
Cory announced that his daughter is home from UNC for the holidays. She finished her first semester there with a 3.9 GPA.
Scott Applegate announced that Brian Schaffer's wife, Deborah, is holding a surprise open house for Brian, exactly a year from the date of his accident/injury, falling from the roof. You can feel free to spread the word, but DON’T TELL BRIAN—he doesn’t know. It is this Sunday (17th) at 5:30, at their home at 1230 Country Club Dr. If you go, please take something/anything to share as a snack—chips, dip, meat, crackers, whatever. She is not asking for RSVP’s so this will help make sure there are enough snacks. The point will be to celebrate his recovery—it could have all gone much worse…
Thomas Beck announced that he surprised his wife of 10 years (known her for 42 years) with a trip to Hawaii. Their anniversary was the end of November.
Mark your calendars for March 19th 2024 when Estes Valley Sunrise Rotary plans to celebrate becoming a 100% Paul Harris Club. Special guests for this distinguished celebration will be Andy Smallwood, RI Past District Governor and Peace Conference Advisor (D5890) and DG Steve Sehnert.
We still have two members who have yet to take the member challenge and donate to the Rotary Annual Fund. Remember..... Bill is serving as both our Co-Treasurer and Community Service Director! Thank you Bill for organizing the December community service drives (along with Terri Martin) for collection firewood, Toys for Tots and Pet Association. Thank you, too, for being there on Tuesday mornings to collect breakfast payments when John is "snow birding" in Austin, TX. We appreciate you.
