Celebration - new Paul Harris Fellows and 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club!
Congratulations to our Sunrise Rotary Club! We reached a charitable milestone that distinguishes us above most – a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club. It’s an even greater distinction at the district level as we are one of two clubs in D5440 to reach the mark.
This means all 46 members of the Club have been credited with a donation of $1,000 or more to become a Paul Harris Fellow, a society of the Rotary Foundation, which serves as the charitable arm of Rotary International.
Dr. Andy Smallwood talked about who was Paul Harris and what it means to be a Paul Harris Fellow. DG Steve Sehnert presented us with a 100% Paul Harris banner and read a letter from Barry Rassin, Chair or the Rotary Foundation 2023/2024. Read the letter here.
Special recognition was given to Teresa Mueller who was instrumental in maneuvering through maze of Paul Harris points and donations to help us arrive at a 100% PH Club.
Members who were present and awarded today (we will present to the absent folks at a later date):
Congratulations to Jeff Morris on becoming an Estes Valley Sunrise Rotarian today! Welcome Jeff!

D5440 Conference in Steamboat Springs is May 16-19 – Sunrise members will enter something in the Silent Auction. All proceeds will go to Crutches 4 Africa (crutches4africa.org). Submission form due by Friday, April 19th.
Matching grant applications are available a couple more weeks through March 31! Recognizing that Sunrise Rotarians support various local nonprofits, the Matching Grants Program doubles a member’s donation up to $200. If a club member gives $200, EVSR will match that $200 and the nonprofit will receive $400. Eligible local nonprofits must be registered with the Estes Park Nonprofit Resource Center (EPNRC). Certain international nonprofits will be allowed: Rotary Charities, YMCA, and Salvation Army.
World Water Day is March 22nd
Water is something we all need to survive. But did you know that 2.2 billion people still live without safely managed drinking water? That's more than 1 in every 4 people!
World Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, is an annual United Nations Observance focusing on the importance of freshwater. World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis.
On May 7th, you will hear an update on our Sunrise Rotary Club's Clean Water Project in the Achuar Rainforest in Ecuador. We are well underway with funding and about to start the required community assessment in Ecuador. We have two host clubs in Ecuador who will be working with us on this project.
