Did You Know?
Rotary In The News

The Media Relations team at Rotary International has the unique privilege of sharing Rotary’s positive impact with new audiences by securing external media coverage of their stories.

Between July and October 2023, the team collaborated closely with Rotary members to help hone their messages, secure interviews, and develop content that appeared in top national and regional media in more than 13 countries around key relevant moments including World Mental Health Day and World Polio Day.

Rotary’s brand was amplified through 85 pieces of media coverage in outlets with a combined audience of 976 million that reached an estimated 1.6 million and garnered more than a thousand comments, likes, and shares on social media.
Good News:

Announcements
  • Janet Zeschin’s husband, Larry, is recovering from a grand mal seizure and several partial onset seizures. He is home and doing better but requires constant supervision.

  • Mike McKinney had his 2nd of 3 brain surgeries for his hand tremors. He is doing well and will let us know when his 3rd and final surgery (for the "pacemaker" unit) is done.

  • David White's wife, Sherry, is still in the hospital with pneumonia.  She will move to rehab soon where she will work on getting stronger.

  • Sue Yowell is back from California where she had a very specialized cancer scan (FES) that isn't available yet in Colorado. She had planned to use Angel Flight to get to/from California but due to pilot scheduling issues, they had her fly on United both ways.  The results of the test showed that is no lobular cancer, which is what they were looking for.  But they are going to keep watching her ribs as there is something there that looks like metastatic but they can’t confirm.

  • Niki announced that the form for the Matching Grants is available here through March 31st.

  • Kendra also announced that the Community Grants form is available here through March 31st.

  • John Minier has two free tickets to this Saturday's "Listening at the Legion".  The artist performing is Magic Dragon.

  • Registrations are open for the May 16-18 District Conference in Steamboat Springs.  Please note that due to space limitations, the registration is limited to 275 participants. Full conference registration includes Thursday social, all meals, breakout sessions and speakers for both Friday and Saturday, Friday dinner voucher and Saturday Western Barbeque event. There is an optional wine tasting event at Rotary Park scheduled for Friday afternoon with a separate charge that must be paid for prior to the event.
  • Full Conference Fee - $275

  • Mark your calendars for March 19th 2024 when Estes Valley Sunrise Rotary plans to celebrate becoming a 100% Paul Harris Club.  Special guests for this distinguished celebration will be Andy Smallwood, RI Past District Governor and Peace Conference Advisor (D5890) and DG Steve Sehnert.

Today's Program
John Minier gave a presentation on our Ecuador Water Project, targeted for the Kutsutkao Village in the Achuar Territory, located in the Amazonian Headwaters Rainforest.  Sunrise Rotarians were quite curious about "Chicha" and "Ayahuasca"!  Thank you, John, for a GREAT! presentation!  There will be a follow-on presentation in 4-6 weeks where we'll show how the project is being funded.
